The USS Cole (DDG-67) is a guided missile destroyer in the United States Navy. The ship is named after Marine Sergeant Darrell S. Cole, who was killed in World War II. The USS Cole is home-ported in Norfolk, Virginia. 

The USS Cole is best known for being the target of a terrorist attack in 2000: 

• AttackOn October 12, 2000, the USS Cole was refueling in the port of Aden, Yemen when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb on the ship’s port side. The explosion killed 17 sailors and wounded 39. The attack was one of the deadliest on a U.S. ship since 1987 and was considered one of the most significant terrorist incidents before 9/11. 
• ResponseThe British Royal Navy frigate HM Marlborough provided supplies and medical equipment to the USS Cole. The crew’s damage control efforts saved the ship, and the U.S. Navy tugged the Cole out of the harbor.
