¹⁷ One who loves pleasure will become a poor person;

Whenever i read verses like these i think, ‘Na.’ Shaking my head no, then remember that the Bible refers to being poor of spirit, at heart.

The 2nd half of v17, has me thinking of how many people today that does not fit!

That this is where a person who has the gift of Faith, the gift of Knowledge, is needed!

Utilizing rich as in material terms, ie: money.

Back then, the rich & poor alike coveted the same things

Today, in the US, the lifestyle of the rich & poor are more dramatically different!

Then add in cultural differences, religious differences, etc

And you will see what i mean by coveted!

Attainment of status for one person, isn’t quite the same, with another!

(Hence my comparison attempts: wine/silver, (olive) oil/gold.

What do all humans around the world have in common? That we ALL use/covet, regardless of status?

Back then who would have thought that Clean Air would be highly coveted?

Food & water without contaminants? (Hence organic, non-gmo, bottled water to water filters (i love Brita, yet there are more expensive, full house sized water filtration systems…yet people in Michigan (nod to Flint) and 3rd world countries (even though 2nd like Mexico) dealing with toxins poured into their air & water by Companies who originate from so-called civilized countries ( the ones who label everybody else 2nd or 3rd (like us! Pun intended)
